About Me

Welcome! My name is Arshad Farhad, and I am deeply passionate about the intersection of healthcare and technology. Over the past two decades, I’ve had the privilege of working at the forefront of healthcare IT, striving to bridge the gap between clinical practice and cutting-edge information systems. My journey has been one of continuous innovation and a commitment to harmonizing medicine and technology to improve patient care and outcomes.

For 14 transformative years, I held senior leadership roles within the UK’s National Health Service (NHS). During this time, I worked on groundbreaking digital transformation initiatives, helping healthcare organizations evolve their technological infrastructure to better serve patients and clinicians alike. Whether it was implementing electronic patient record systems or driving data-driven decision-making, my focus was always on ensuring IT systems were not just supportive of clinical needs but also prepared for the challenges of a rapidly changing healthcare environment.

Today, I serve as the Healthcare & Life Sciences CTO for Dell Technologies in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), where I lead the Healthcare & Life Sciences Practice. My role is multifaceted: I deliver technology vision and roadmaps, assist customers in translating complex healthcare requirements into practical IT strategies, and focus on advancing Dell’s solutions portfolio. From emerging technologies like AI, machine learning, blockchain, and genomics to precision medicine and healthcare cloud solutions, I work to empower healthcare organizations with tools that enable better care, operational efficiency, and innovation.

Beyond my work at Dell Technologies, I am actively engaged in the global healthcare IT community. I frequently participate in forums, contribute thought leadership articles, deliver keynote addresses, and publish research papers. My work has been featured in venues like Medical Informatics Europe, IEEE, and BCS ICHCI. I am also a proud member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the European Federated Learning Board, where I contribute to advancing federated learning research in healthcare.

I’m currently pursuing my PhD, focusing on federated learning for AI to improve patient care using wearable and IoMT sensors. My academic journey has been equally rewarding, starting with a BE in Computer Systems Engineering from NED University, followed by an MSc in Mobile and Distributed Computer Networks from Leeds Metropolitan University, and an M.Phil. in IT Security from the University of Oxford. My research at Oxford helped establish governance frameworks for secure patient information sharing across healthcare trusts in the UK—a project that continues to shape healthcare IT strategies today.

Outside of work and academia, I enjoy spending time with my family. I live in Cronon, Merseyside, UK, with my wife, Kiran, and our two children, Arham and Namrah. When I’m not immersed in healthcare IT, I love exploring how technology can further transform lives for the better.

Thank you for visiting my page—I hope you find value in the ideas, insights, and experiences I share. Let’s shape the future of healthcare IT together!
